WE ARE THE LEADING ITALIAN DESIGN COMPANY FOR ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS IN THE RESIDENTIAL, SERVICE AND INDUSTRIAL SECTORS

With several plants and manufacturing facilities in Italy and abroad, as well as a successful brand name well known in more than 60 countries around the world, BTicino has been part of the Legrand Group since 1989. Its acquisition of BTicino has given Legrand a brand name that represents at international level the best traditions in Italian design and manufacturing.

Each new project is a challenge that BTicino tackles with the strength of its DNA, which is the result of a perfect combination of constant drive for technological innovation, solid knowledge of aesthetic issues and desire of ensuring every time engaging user experiences.

Technological innovations are the basic ingredients of our solutions. The physical and digital aspects of a product must coexist harmoniously in a delicate balance: this is our goal.

Our focus is to create products that communicate with their surroundings, which do not need to “raise their voices” to be noticed but, on the contrary, can be appreciated for their typical Italian design and elegance.

OUR HISTORY THROUGH DESIGN

Ticino (1940). The range with the characteristic round bevelled glass cover plate and bakelite or porcelain push-button or lever controls.
Domino (1950). The first monobloc three-button switch, ivory-coloured resin range with rounded edges.
Magic (1960). The first modular range offer, innovative due to its rigorous design, technical functionality and installation versatility.
Living (1980). The range that broke the rules with an unusual black button combined with an extensive range of cover plate colours (like the red portrayed) and many functions.
Living International and Light (1990). Two alternative ranges differing by shapes, materials and colours that offered automation solutions such as the burglar alarm and the sound system.
Axolute (2005). The range designed for interiors where excellence is a must that combines two shapes, novel materials, sophisticated technology, and the axial buttons.
Livinglight (2011). A single range, but many combinations of shapes, colours, materials, and technological innovation, and many possibilities of customising the home system
Living Now (2018). The next-generation range with an innovative design in terms of form and finishing. The first range of connected cover plates that can be controlled by app or voice.

BTicino has always been extremely committed to quality, technology and Italian design, with the merit of having been the first to introduce the concepts of aesthetics and comfort in a sector where in the past performance was almost exclusively functional.

So far, BTicino has been awarded 3 Compasso D’Oro Awards (Golden Compass, the highest Italian design award), 3 IF Awards, 2 RedDot Awards, one CES Award, and has received a mention in the ADI Design Index.

COMPASSO D’ORO

BTicino won a Compasso d’Oro in 1989 for the “Living residential solution” and another one in 2001 for the “Sistema integrato di automazione domestica My Home” (MyHome home automation integrated system). In 2014, BTicino received an honourable mention for the “Telecomando domotico My Home” (MyHome home automation remote control).

IF DESIGN AWARDS

The first nomination for the famous IF Design Award came in 1996, but it was the “Classe 300 video internal unit” (2016), the “Smarther” thermostat (2017) and the “Classe 300EOS video internal unit” (2021) that secured for BTicino the coveted international award.

RED DOT AWARDS

BTicino won the Red Dot awards for its Living and Light ranges (1996) and for its Milan Concept Store (2011).

CES INNOVATION AWARD

In 2019, the “MyHome control with built-in voice assistant” won over the jury of the CES Innovation Award, who celebrated the value of BTicino products with the important prize.

ADI DESIGN INDEX MENTION

In 2006, the Axolute range by BTicino was mentioned in the ADI Design Index, the annual design compendium produced by the Association for Italian Design (ADI), promoter of the Compasso D'Oro award.

BTicino: A Historic Brand of National Interest

BTicino, historically linked to the region and with a trademark registered and used continuously for at least 50 years, as a recognition of the "history" of national entrepreneurship and Made in Italy, has obtained registration in the Register of Historic Brands of National Interest from the Ministry of Economic Development, reserved only for national companies of excellence.

AS PART OF THE LEGRAND GROUP, WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

Legrand and BTicino are committed to helping people use electricity in a sustainable way. The new CSR roadmap of the Legrand Group focuses on 4 key areas that guide and concentrate our commitments: fostering diversity and inclusion, reducing our carbon footprint, promoting the circular economy and, finally, being responsible players.

BTicino: this is responsible packaging

We created responsible packaging

BTicino demonstrates its commitment to protecting the environment on multiple fronts, including packaging. By carefully optimizing design, production and assembly processes, BTicino has created responsible packaging. Smart choices, such as reducing the printed surface, avoiding UV varnishing or lamination, and replacing plastic with 100% FSC Mix certified paper have paid off. The results so far are an increase in recycled raw materials (+134.1 T) and a strong reduction in weight (-26.6 T), disposable plastic (-26.3 T) and emissions (-153.5 T).

We make recycling easy

Recycling is a key aspect in the development of BTicino's packaging solutions. To facilitate separate waste collection, BTicino produces single-material packaging and provides consumers with tools to support proper disposal: the on-line guide on environmental labelling (currently available for the Italian market) provides a quick and easy answer to the question "How do I dispose of it?".

The WEEE European directive

The WEEE European directive (2012/19/EU)

The WEEE directive aims to reduce the quantity of wastes coming from the end-of-life of electrical and electronic equipments, reducing at the same time the presence in the environment of the dangerous substances prohibited by the RoHS directive.
