BTicino accelerates the green transition with ENGIE

Reducing the environmental impact and making industrial sites increasingly autonomous and sustainable from an energy perspective. This is the goal of the partnership in Italy between BTicino and ENGIE, a leading operator in the energy sector and one of the main players in Italy for decarbonization. Over 9,000 new-generation solar panels will be installed in four Italian plants, allowing the company to self-produce 2.5 GWh of green electricity annually, a quantity that will contribute to the expected environmental results and help reduce the overall energy needs of the plants. The excess energy produced will be fed into the grid.

In addition to an immediate benefit in terms of energy and economic efficiency, the interventions will significantly reduce the environmental impact: 800 tons of CO2 emissions will be avoided each year, equivalent to planting 4,890 new trees. The BTicino plants involved in the project are four: in Tradate (VA) and Erba (CO), there are two photovoltaic systems with a power of 500 KW each; in Spinetta Marengo (AL) and Varese, the systems that came into operation in 2024 will ensure a total power of over 1,500 KW.

“The business world is taking a leading role in the decarbonization process, starting with the energy efficiency of production sites and headquarters, and BTicino’s choice goes in this direction. We accompany our clients in adopting innovative solutions that significantly reduce consumption and environmental impact, following one of the main trends in the energy transition path, namely the electrification of consumption and the replacement of fossil fuels with efficient solutions powered by renewable sources. These technologies are essential to achieving decarbonization goals and protecting the competitiveness of the Italian industrial sector” says Carlo Perrone, BTB Director of ENGIE Italia.

“To limit the impact of activities on climate change, BTicino is committed to reducing its carbon footprint with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality through the group’s value chain by 2050. The partnership with ENGIE is another tangible example of our roadmap that proceeds at a fast pace, with extreme concreteness, to translate long-term goals into pragmatic and measurable results year after year. We are confident that this further agreement with ENGIE is just one of the elements of a pragmatic and lasting collaboration with sector operators, an approach from which our results on environmental impact, workplace safety, and industrial production derive” says Franco Villani, CEO of BTicino Italia.
