FAQ
How many devices can I install?
Your account does not have installation limits. However, to ensure an optimal experience in the Home + Security application, it is recommended to install up to 10 Netatmo Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices, such as smart smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, in your customer account.
1The Smart Door and Window Sensor indicates an 'Open/Closed' status, but it is not accurate. What should I do?
In the Home + Security app dashboard, select the Sensor option, then the gear icon at the top right of the menu that appears. Select 'edit' and decrease the Sensor's sensitivity.
How does the calibration of Smart Door and Window Sensors work?
To set the Sensor for calibration, open the Home + Security app dashboard, go to the device option, and then select 'Calibrate.' To ensure effective calibration, the door or window where the Sensor is placed must be closed. The calibration takes approximately 2 minutes.
The Smart Door and Window Sensor did not detect an important movement. What should I do?
In the Home + Security app dashboard, select the device option and then the gear icon to access the product settings. Select 'edit' and increase the Sensor's sensitivity.
The Home + Security app indicates "Defective SD card" or "SD card missing." What does it mean
The camera requires a MicroSD card to function. You need a quality SD card to save videos immediately when events occur. An old or defective SD card might not work properly. In crowded places, many events (movements, people, etc.) are detected. An excessive amount of recorded videos could reduce the SD card's lifespan. To customize video recordings according to your needs, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Edit security settings > [device category].

When the Home + Security app displays a "Defective SD card" error, the first thing to do is to remove and reinsert the SD card as it might just be a false contact. If the problem persists, the SD card needs to be replaced. If you want to use another micro-SD card, make sure it is:
• at least class 10,
• with a storage capacity of 8, 16, or 32 GB,
• "Endurance" or "Industrial" type (support for many write cycles), specifically designed for use in surveillance cameras."
2The Home + Security app reports "error code 01." What does it mean?
Error code 01” means that the Home + Security app does not have access to the requested video. Please follow the steps indicated:
• Check if the smartphone you are using with the Home + Security app has a good connection.
• Ensure that the network bandwidth to which the Camera is connected is not insufficient (high data traffic). The minimum connection speed to ensure the Camera works is 25 kB/s for upload and download. You can check this with an online speed test service like "https://speedof.me/" or "http://www.speedtest.net/".
• Restart the Camera."
The light remains on and the Camera does not work properly in the Home + Security app.
If the Camera does not work, try restarting it: turn it off (using the switch or the electrical panel), wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. If the light is on steadily (at low intensity), it means the microSD card is missing or defective.
4The Home + Security app shows "Video not available. The Camera is disconnected."
If the Home + Security app shows 'Video not available. The Camera is disconnected.', it may be that the Camera is not properly connected to the power supply or due to a bad connection. Most of the time, this problem can be resolved with a few quick steps.
Electrical specifications: Restart the Camera (at the fuse). The spotlight should turn on for a few seconds, then turn off. If the spotlight does not turn on, contact us. If the spotlight remains on continuously, change the Camera's SD card.
Connection: If the Wi-Fi network password has changed, it is no longer possible to connect the Camera. To change the configuration, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Manage my home > [room where the device is located] > [device name] > Configure network. If the Camera connects and disconnects multiple times a day, try the Netatmo troubleshooting guide for interference problems. What is Apple HomeKit surveillance?
Apple HomeKit is a smart home ecosystem developed by Apple. Through HomeKit, Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and HomePod) can control compatible products in your home, such as cameras, lights, thermostats, etc., from the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or MacBook, using the Siri voice assistant or configuring automations with an Apple TV or HomePod.
The status of HomeKit surveillance or Apple devices is displayed in your Home + Security app if your camera has been configured with an iPhone or iPad. You can access it from Apple devices that have access to your home:
If there are no hubs configured for HomeKit (Apple TV, HomePod, or iPad), the camera can only be accessed from the local network. If a HomeKit hub is configured, live streaming can be viewed from anywhere. If a HomeKit hub is configured and the associated iCloud account has a paid plan of at least 50 GB, live streaming can be viewed from anywhere, and the camera can record events on iCloud (HomeKit Secure Video).
Netatmo surveillance and HomeKit surveillance are independent. You can control Netatmo surveillance from the Home + Security app. HomeKit surveillance is controlled by the location of the iPhones associated with the home. For configurations and information, access the camera settings in the Home app from an iPhone or iPad and access the recording options.
Note: Setting a PIN code to lock the camera will not lock HomeKit surveillance."
How can I connect my Camera to Dropbox?
You need to configure Dropbox for each of your Cameras. NOTE: A Dropbox account can be linked to as many Cameras as you want, but a Camera cannot be linked to multiple Dropbox accounts.
Steps: In the Home + Security app, go to the settings page of your Home, then in the Cloud Storage section. Then, click on 'Pair and configure Dropbox account.' You will be directed to the Dropbox authentication window. Enter your Dropbox username and password to complete the pairing. You can then customize the storage settings on Dropbox from the Home + Security app.
I have no video, even though the Camera is connected and Wi-Fi is enabled.
Note: Even if the Camera is not connected to the Internet, it continues to record and detect events. The list of these events is updated as soon as the Camera accesses a stable connection.
If no video appears in the Home + Security app, the reasons may be:
• Surveillance function disabled. To reactivate it, open the dashboard and tap the 'Surveillance' button located under the camera in question.
• Event recording is disabled: go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Edit security settings > [device category]
• The quality of the internet connection of the smartphone used to access the Home + Security app is insufficient.
How can I change the Camera's Wi-Fi configuration? I changed the router. How can I configure the Camera to reconnect to the Internet?
Note: It is unnecessary to reset the Camera before reconfiguring the network. If you are reconfiguring an Outdoor Camera, you need to set up the configuration QR code (card included in the package).
Procedure: For configuration, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Manage my home > [room where the device is located] > [device name] > Configure network, then follow the steps indicated in the app.
Can the Smart Outdoor Camera record 24/7?
The Camera monitors the property 24/7 but only records videos when an event occurs. You can now customize the Camera's operation. To do this, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Edit security settings > [device category]. For each type of element detected by the Camera (people, vehicles, animals, other movements), you can choose whether to:
• Record a video and send a notification;
• Only record a video;
• Ignore the event.
How does facial recognition work?
When the Smart Indoor Camera identifies a face for the first time, it is marked with a question mark in the Home + Security app. However, you can create a new profile by associating it with a name and configuring its privacy settings. After registering it, the Camera will be able to recognize it and inform you of its presence. Up to 32 different faces can be registered.
I receive too many notifications of people or cars on the street. What can I do?
You can use Alert-Zones to define the area you want to monitor. If parts of the field of view correspond to an area with a lot of activity, you can exclude them from the Alert Zones. The excluded area will not be monitored by the Smart Outdoor Camera. Therefore, when something happens in this area, the Camera will not record or send any notification. To set up alert zones, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Manage my home > [room where the device is located] > [device name] > Alert zones. You will be able to resize, move, add, or delete zones so that the Camera monitors only the areas that interest you.
The Siren went off, but I did not receive any notification, or the event does not appear in the timeline
If the Home + Security app is not updated to the latest available version, you may not receive any notification when the siren is activated and not see such events in the timeline. Update the app from the App Store or Play Store,
What is the maximum event storage duration? How can I change it?
If you have at least one camera at home, events will remain available on the timeline for as long as the corresponding video is stored on the memory card of the camera that recorded the event. Whether you have a camera or not, the maximum event storage duration for various smart home devices is 6 months. By default, the duration is set to 3 months. In most cases, the memory card fills up before 3 months.
To change the duration, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Edit security settings > Smart settings > Clear past events. You can delete old events after 48 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.
How to configure FTP video backup?
Note: Your FTP server must be configured in 'passive' mode. Currently, SFTP and FTPS are not supported by our Cameras.
Procedure: For configuration, go to the Home + Security app > Settings > Cloud Storage > FTP Settings. You need to provide the necessary information to save videos on the FTP server: Hostname, Port, Username, Password, and the directory where you intend to save the videos.
Hostname: Name or IP address of the FTP server.
Port: Most FTP servers use port 21, only modify this if the router configuration has been manually changed.
Username and Password: Use the details usually used to connect to the FTP router interface.
Save in: When choosing the directory, note that many FTP servers do not allow root modification, so you will need to use a directory like '/home/' or '/apps/netatmo', as the camera will have the right to modify it. The Netatmo camera will automatically create the 'Year', 'Month', and 'Day' folders to store the videos.
